1385. RECEIVED 13 MAY 1931 HS{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} To DA{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} from Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} Copy to Rs.{Sir Henry Royce's Secretary} re Rivetless Bonnets. Sg{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD}17/E7.5.31 We do not appear to be making any very satisfactory progress in regard to this matter. You will recollect that, when I was at Derby at the end of March, you were also there and you saw the rivetless bonnet which the Experimental Dept. had made up and fitted to one of their experimental cars. The general opinion was that the elimination of the rivets was an advantage but there were certain points about this bonnet which were not quite right and it was left for the Design Dept. to do what was necessary. When I was at Derby yesterday I asked what had transpired during the intervening period and gathered that they were still waiting to hear from WW on the subject. Would you please let me know what the position is and what is being done? Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} | ||
