13729 To HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} } c. to C. } FROM DA{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}/EV.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} S E C R E T. DA{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}/EV{Ivan Evernden - coachwork}2/M13.10.24. E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} A.{Mr Adams} C. CLOSED BODY. X.8830 X.3729 X.9848 EV.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} will bring with him on Thursday a sketch and specification of a closed body for the above chassis which it will be understood is to be fitted to a 40/50 having the required shape of dashboard. We are suggesting an enclosed limousine with 'B' steering, the 'B' steering not having been chosen for preference, but because it is the only steering that is the same on both chassis. The suggestion also was that Barkers be asked to supply an extra set of wings for the Sports model, these to be standard pattern, ostensibly to suit Mr. Royce's request. For these they can use the wing stays supplied, as they are not suitable for the sports wings. This confirms that 'C' proposed to take the matter up on these lines with CJ. The second suggestion would be to use the American body either by remaking its scuttle to suit EAC.2. dashboard, a process which we believe is possible, or our making an EAC.2. with a narrower and lower dashboard to suit the body. This would be very difficult and not very satisfactory. If we could use the American body we should save some of the loss on the body, and have the advantage of witnessing its life and durability. (EV.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} hopes to be at Olympia on Thursday next and will arrange to see C. if possible). EA/EV.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} | ||
