STEERING WOBBLES. When considering balancing the wheels in order to prevent steering wobbles, this must apply to all cars fitted with 4-wheel brakes - either Silver Ghost, Phantom or 'India'. It also very desirable that all cars, whatever type, should have the front wheels balanced. Although there is no risk of violent wobbles on cars not fitted with 4-wheel brakes, there is always a tendency, if the front wheels are out of balance, for an oscillation of the steering wheel. The importance of the balancing of the front wheels was realized 10 or 12 years ago and we did then actually supply balance weights which we fitted under the security bolts of the tyres. The old cars should still have balanced front wheels and tyres. As regards tyre pressures. We recommend on the Silver Ghost or Phantom cars fitted with 4-wheel brakes, the tyre pressure recommended should be 55 lbs. It should be remembered that if we recommend 55 lbs. under average conditions the tyres will always be less than this as the tyres will be pumped up to 55 lbs. and will not be touched again until the tyre pressure has got less.
