X.6137 C. to SG.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} WOR.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} C. to HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} RR. BATTERIES - 25HP. & J.{Mr Johnson W.M.} 3. We understand that it is proposed to use the universal batteries on the 25HP. and J.{Mr Johnson W.M.} 3., particulars of which are given in HS{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/WST1/AD22132., and that certain modifications are required to the battery tray and the method of retaining the battery in the tray. If you require us to do any work on this we would be glad to receive blueprints of the battery - 3.XR.7/1.H. We note that the battery has an ebonite moulded container without a lid.{A. J. Lidsey} We would like the Expl. Dept to definitely state that there is no need to keep mud off the battery. If mud has to be kept off we think it should be done by an ebonite moulded lid{A. J. Lidsey} to the battery, and not a lid{A. J. Lidsey} to our sheet metal box. Are we to understand that these universal batteries can have no lid{A. J. Lidsey}? The writer recently bought a standard battery for his car from the National Accumulator Co., and that has a lid.{A. J. Lidsey} We suggest that adequate means of holding the battery in the box would be by means of two clamps spanning the sheet metal trough, and held down by wing nuts.
