X200a 4 To RHC.{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer} Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Std.5/KW.6.2.36. Spring Loaded Radiator Shutters on 6-B-IV. While endeavouring to measure the loads to open and close the shutters on the above radiator, we have observed that the preloading of the shutters does not remain constant owing to the fact that the bottom shutter bearing support plate takes a permanent set underload. This plate is in aluminium and is very flimsy. We should like you to detail and instruct a stiffer plate in steel and fit this in conjunction with a new bearing support plate (and new spring strips which will then be necessary) as described in Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Std.1/JH.21.1.36. This should definitely be done before the radiator does 15,000 miles. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/C.S.Steadman. | ||
