Report on weights of various
Rear Axles. X.200.

Below are given the weights of rear axles as they are in use, i.e. filled with oil and fitted with tyres etc.
The torque tubes or rods were supported from the ground at the point where they are anchored to the frame and the weight on the back wheels taken.

The R.R. axles below cannot be accurately compared as they are fitted with different wheels and tyres. if the accurate weights are desired I will weigh them without wheels.

R.R. single rear brake axle with tubular torque member. R.W. wire wheels and 895 X 135 tyres. 531 lbs.

R.R. double rear brake axle fitted with Warland rims and 895 X 135 tyres. 609 "

R.R. double brake rear axle fitted with Dunlop wire wheels and 895 X 135 tyres. 579 "

R.R. double brake light axle fitted with wood wheels and Michelin detachable rims 895 X 135 with 895 X 150 over-size tyres. 579 "

All the above axles are for use with grasshopper springs.

Old Daimler worm axle single brakes. R.W. wire wheels 920 X 120 with tyres. No torque or radius rods
