43806 To RHC.{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer} from Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/RmS/LG15.1.29. 43806 BUMPER TEST. X8772 We have no centrepoint lubrication on the bump. We have a number of tests we have to carry out on centrepoint lubrication and in addition have the new front spring lubrication to try which depends on the centre-point lubrication scheme. We should therefore be obliged if you would fix up the necessary bits on the bump chassis. In addition we have some tests to carry out comparing the material we are at present receiving from The Lucas Co. with that we originally obtained from America. The points we are watching are :- (1) The efficiency of the non-return valves in the drip plugs. (2) The tendency of the filters in the drip plugs to get blocked up. Will you please supply us with a pump rigged up on a stand and pipes corresponding to the length used on the car to the 8 spring shackles each with its respective drip plug at its extremity. The pipes can of course be coiled - they are merely there to provide the necessary resistance. The whole can be fitted up on a stand and subjected to temperatures, types of oil etc. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} | ||
