CHASSIS UNIT BEDS.

We are expecting the first B.80 unit on test complete with gearbox. This was originally instructed in accordance with our Sheet B.5206 issued on the 19.8.38, but the work was not completed owing to having the first engine minus a gearbox. This necessitated new rear mounting and we instructed for this on a separate sheet B.5214 (16.12.38).

In view of the above, therefore, will you please instruct the millwrights to complete the original job, B.5206.

Additionally, will you please give us the position of the following jobs which are outstanding:-

(1) Necessary tackle to house the various types of engines on the universal bed in No. 5 test house, in accordance with our sheet B.5402 (16.1.39.)

(2) Installation of B.60 unit in No.2 test house using the universal jacking system in accordance with our sheet 627/c. (16.1.39).

(3) Supply of water cooled exhaust manifolds for No.30 and No.5 test houses in accordance with our sheet B.5215 (24.2.39).
