two headlamp fuses alone.

The first scheme has a disadvantage that it does not cover a short in the wiring between the lamps and the distribution board. As any such short would extinguish both lamps we do not, therefore, favour this scheme.

In Scheme No.2. we should move the horns and body lights two terminals sideways, and put them on the same fuse as the stop lamp and traffic indicators. The side and tail would be transferred one terminal sideways, and this would leave the side and tail fuse available for a separate head lamp. The conductors to the upper ends of the fuses would require an appropriate rearrangement. To carry out this work the distribution board would have to be detached, which would involve a certain amount of work.

It would also be necessary to send out an amended wiring chart and affix a new wiring diagram in the lid{A. J. Lidsey} of the distribution box.

In the case of the third scheme we have a small separate fuse box which we could use, about 3" long by 2" wide, and it would be necessary to find a place on the dash where this could be mounted and equip it with two headlamp fuses wired into the headlamp circuits.

The normal headlight fuse in the main distribution box would then be no longer used and an amended chart and diagram would also be required so that there will be no misunderstanding, and any faults which arose could be traced.

We are doubtful at the moment which of the schemes 2 and 3 is the better to adopt, and we are having them costed to see if there is likely to be much difference in expenditure between the two.

We would, however, point out that we do not consider it sufficient merely to change over to separate headlamp fuses. We definitely think there is some fault in the lamp, and if this same fault should develop simultaneously under excessive road vibration conditions on both lights then there is the possibility of a blackout even with two fuses.

We are, therefore, taking this matter up
