(12) WOOD MODEL.

The same remarks apply to this as to the Checking Jigs referred to immediately above.

(13) POST-WAR PROJECTS.

All of us here realise the importance to this Company of its "after the War" programme, particularly in view of the fact that it has been impressed upon me from time to time, that we cannot expect to be kept going on mass production lines, but that on the contrary, if we want to survive, it will be up to us to go out, as we did before the War, and find orders for specially built bodies. It is largely because of this that we have striven to maintain our Service Department with a view to the retention of the goodwill we created before the War, in the hope that some of those customers who, in those days were prepared to pay a high price for specially built bodies, will come to us in the future. I should prefer to think that we could look forward to R.R. keeping us going after the War, but as mentioned above, I have been given to understand that we cannot hope for this.

In conclusion I would like to mention that Mr. Hives was able to spare the time to look over our Works on the 1st inst., and I took the opportunity of explaining to him some of the difficulties with which we had to contend in preparing the patterns for the Myth Chassis Frame and Body, and I think that he appreciated that it had not been the easy task that some people seem to think. I hope that he may have the opportunity of mentioning to you his visit to these Works, and of telling you what he saw, when I feel that you will agree that, although we may not have delivered "the goods" quite so soon as was hoped, we have by no means been idle. I, moreover, hope for a visit from yourself in the near future, when I will have the opportunity of showing you all we had to do to achieve what we have so far done.

I would like to add that when before the War I assured you that I would be 100% Park Ward and Rolls-Royce, I meant what I said, and that I personally think what has happened since should show that I have endeavoured to keep my promise, but it is not encouraging to feel that our troubles here are not appreciated by
