The torque multiplication of the servo was measured under actual road conditions on a car by means of maximum reading spring balances inserted in the brake linkage and arranged as shown in the sketch. The spring balance 'B' was so adjusted that when deflected under load the angular position of the servo balance lever was normal. The servo used was type G.72550 and readings were taken for three operating cams of different angle. The values given were calculated from the actual readings recorded in balances A & B. consequently the actual value at the servo would be slightly higher increased by an efficiency factor. It was found that when the foot pedal was suddenly depressed the servo multiplication at that instant assumed a higher value. ARRANGEMENT OF SPRING BALANCES.
