Dear Sir,

Some time ago we had cause to be interested in bimetal strip, and received from you a copy of your Data Book concerning Thermometal.

We are now requiring a coiled bimetal to operate between 32 and 108°F and exert a torque of 6 oz. in. for a deflection of 40°.

With the aid of your Data Book we have calculated that a coil made from Highflex 45 and having 18.8" free length, 0.32" width and .025" thickness would fulfil these conditions.

We presume that the coil could be quite closely wound, having a small tab on the inside to locate it on to a 1/4" dia. spindle and having an outside diameter of about 1 1/4". If the above figures meet with your confirmation we should be pleased if you would make for us one Thermometal coil to these dimensions. We should also like one similar in every way except width which should be increased to 0.5".

We shall be glad to forward an official order on intimation from you that the above coils are a practical possibility.

Yours faithfully,
FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LTD.
