820. To Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} from ROY.{Sir Henry Royce} TYRES You will recollect the Firestone people, who, apparently, are working closely in conjunction with Springfield, are particularly anxious we should try out a set of their Tyres, made at their English Works outside London, for either our 20 HP. or 40/50 HP. Chassis - which they would be prepared to supply on Preferential Terms. When we last raised this matter you had no Chassis available. Would you kindly advise if you are now in a position to test such a set, and if so, the size. The Firestone people claim they have obtained exceptional non-skid with reasonable silent running. In this connection, you are probably aware, London are now giving the Public the option of having either Dunlop Silent or Buttress Tread Tyres, and considerable numbers of Dunlop Silent Tread Tyres are now coming back to Derby from Cricklewood and Lillie Hall, which have been taken off owners' cars.
