To H.{Arthur M. Hanbury - Head Complaints} from Sg{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD}: Copy to E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} C?. Kc. I have had an opportunity of a short run on the Alfa Romeo car. I want to emphasize once again that this is definitely not the type of car that we want from the point of view of appearance or comfort - or rather I should say discomfort. After seeing the Lagonda and the Invicta I feel that they are much more the type of thing from an appearance point of view, and in case you have not seen the Lagonda I attach a very good illustration of it from last week's front cover of the "Autocar". You will see that it is/an altogether bolder looking car than the Alfa Romeo. You will remember I said in a former memo. that I was anxious that in buying the Alfa Romeo we must keep in mind that, whilst we may be interested in certain of its features such as the supercharger, we must not be misled into making something like it as we are all quite sure that there is a very limited market for that type of semi-racing car. I am not stating in any way to interfere with the general specification which we went through the other day. On the Alfa Romeo/ one could hear a definite scream from the supercharger but as it was an open car it was not as objectionable as one would imagine it would be in a closed car. Sg.{Arthur F.
