Revisions and additions for the 'After the War Chassis', including a request for an American model.

It is now about 12 months since the points to be incorporated in the After the War Chassis were fixed up. Attached herewith is a list of the parts it was decided upon to fit. Now that there is a request for an after the war type chassis for America, we consider this list should be revised. We ought to expect to revise the list every 6 months. If we send a car to America as a model of the after the war chassis, there should be no guarantee given, that the cars that are produced will be similar if the war lasts more than 6 months. Another point is that as the war goes on, we are rapidly using up our stock of machined parts for replacements and repairs so that the longer the war lasts there will be less necessity to consider the amount of stock in hand when revising the after the war chassis. In addition to the previous list, we suggest the following points should be added. 1. Higher Lift to Valves. X.2937B. We find that increasing the lift, does not spoil the silence of the valve gear. We have not found that the higher lift makes the engine feel harsher, increasing the compression ratio has that effect. X.790. 2. We consider that we get at least 20% better consumption on 7.CA since we increased the compression and increased the lift. We (contd) | ||
