BENTLEY 111. ENGINE REAR SUSPENSION.

Please receive herewith G.CD.543 showing the above suspension.

The scheme follows closely that of the Wraith 111 now running and shewn on G.CD.477, and is based on the assumption that the unit wants to oscillate about an axis passing through the centre of gravity and inclined at an angle to the centre line of trans-mission, such as to pass through the points of front and rear support found on Wraith. Advantage has been taken of this to move the support forward along the gearbox into a position where it is possible to provide a reasonably simple cross member and mounting pieces, and by inclining the torque taking rubbers at a suitable angle to maintain the above axis of oscillation. If the above assumption is fallacious, this proposal may not work.

The gearbox casing has already had the support foot added to the detail.

Will you please detail and instruct experimentally, the urgency being the same as that of the new Bentley 111 gearbox.
