Halls' Metal Bearings. Referring to the porposed standardisation of solid Halls' material for the large bore Bentley unit, we attach hereto blueprints Ex.21294/5/6/7/8 and Ex.21300 showing various modifications which have proved necessary on Experimental test and should be introduced for production. These modifications comprise the following - Connecting Rods. EB.2285. Oil groove added in place of groove on back of bearing. Connecting Rod Bush. EB.2689. Groove on back deleted and included angle of oil holes reduced from 90° to 64°. Particulars of ageing treatment to be specified on drawing, this treatment to be given after sawcutting and drilling but before final turning. Main Bearing Bushes. EB.2694/5/6/7 Bore diameter increased from 2.250 to 2.251 + 1/2 and particulars of ageing treatment to be added on drawing, this to be given after sawcutting and drilling as in the case of Connecting Rod Bearings. The recommended clearances for the above bearings are as follows - Connecting Rods - .0018. Main Bearings - .003. RHC.{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer} | ||
