Re: Experimental Bentley Saloon. Chassis 5B4.................... We have had Messrs.S.S.Smith & Sons at Messrs. Park Ward & Co. and they have fitted a Pump mechanism for the Jackalls jacks. As you know, the only place where this will go is under the front floor just behind the sloping footboard. It can be got in only by cutting away the board and putting a thin plate over the hole. The Pump box itself is then only ¼" clear of the exhaust silencer. On this car, we have the sheet metal floorboards with the 2" deep depression for the heels of the front passengers' feet. If we are to fit this Pump, we shall have to take out the depression for the passengers' feet. Will you kindly tell us by return whether you would like us to do this, or whether we shall leave off the jacks on this particular car. It is a serious issue because we shall soon have these floorboards as standard, and there are quite a few of our customers who insist on these jacks. What is more, it is not beyond the bounds of possibility we may want to have them as a standard extra. Ev.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} | ||
