RE SHOCK DAMPERS & BATTERY CROSSMEMBER.
BENTLEY.
With reference to our Ev{Ivan Evernden - coachwork}3/9.1.34. in which we made suggestions for moving the rear squab backwards 2.000ins. we now send you Ev.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork}S.II6. which has been set out from L.e.O. 3387.
We have improved on our original suggestion by avoiding the necessity of moving the damper aft.
The lever forging is the same length but it has a slightly less set, bringing the ball closer to the frame.
To save the battery box pressing we have suggested a modified bracket at the back of the box.
We are very interested in this improvement and want to get it onto a car. If we are able to have a new body for the late green Bentley Saloon, we are suggesting that it be applied to that chassis.
Will By.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} please send me two prints of this scheme as soon as it is approved.
We are engaged in setting out the new four door saloon including this improvement.
