Re. Chrysler.

With regard to our telephone conversation this afternoon and the above car which is being brought from the U.S.A., the R.A.C. confirm that the Acquit à Caution is essentially a French document and there is no English equivalent. The only alternative to paying duty on the car is to bring it in under a triptyque (or carnet if the car is going on to countries other than Great Britain.)

The triptyque can be obtained in the U.S.A. or through the R.A.C. at the English port. It would of course, be necessary to deposit a 33 -1/3% guarantee re Customs duties, £20 in cash and the rest in the form of a bank guarantee. [Handwritten note: £50?]

It is pointed out that it would be advisable for the triptyque to be in the name of someone who is not [strikethrough: permanent] in the American Company so as to obviate the risk of a connection with R.R. being established.

If you would let us know where and when the car will be arriving and the name in which documents are being taken out, the R.A.C. will be pleased to write confidentially to their representative at the port to give special attention to this matter.
