+328 1158 Experimental Dept. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Std.5/MH.{M. Huckerby} 28th. October 1938. AC-Sphinx Sparking Plug Co. Ltd., Dunstable, BEDS. For the attention of Mr.Bennion Browne. Dear Sirs, We thank you for your letter of the 27th. inst., and enclose herewith drawings ECD.210, Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}412 and EB.3776. The first shows the thermostat scheme which we are proposing to standardise shortly on our Bentley cars, while the second shows the scheme with which we have done a fair amount of running. The third drawing is the thermostat unit used in the first scheme mentioned. The thermostat used in the second scheme is substantially identical with the Harrison unit which we believe you are about to manufacture. We should be interested to know whether you can supply a suitable sample unit for either of these schemes, and would also be interested in figures as regards price of these units. The other items in which we are interested are oil pressure switches operating a warning light, and if possible, a similar simple device to indicate boiling by means of a warning light. With regard to the question of car heaters. As mentioned in our discussion we propose to try out a scheme, of which we send you a drawing, before we change to any form of self-aligning bearing for our fan mounting. We asked you to let us know the diameter of the spigot which you have machined on the motor casing which you are preparing for us, and find that our pieces have been detailed for a spigot of 1.250 - ½ diameter. | ||
