Dear Sr.,

As you probably know, we bumped into trouble with the Big Bore 20/25 oil consumption.

In getting out of this trouble we found a very effective piston ring. The attached report indicates what it does. Hancock is fitting a set to 22-GV.

It occurred to me that you may have one or two cases of Lead Bronze bearings where the oil consumption is high and you would rather fit one of these rings than change the bearings. This being so, I have asked Hancock to give you some rings. Since our experience so far is somewhat limited I would suggest that you try some of these rings on one of your Trials cars first. Possibly you would like to use them with the larger oil pump on your present saloon.

I am most disappointed to hear that you may not be over for the T.T. Race. I think you are making a big mistake, especially in view of the importance of the result to you due to the fact that the De La{L. A. Archer} Hayes, your competitors, are running. After all you need not be absent from Paris more than three days, one and a half of which will be a week-end. I hope to hear that you have reversed your decision.

Yours sincerely,
