For the attention of Mr. West. WST Dear Sirs, We thank you for your letter of the 23rd inst. We note that you find there is a big improvement in slow running with the RL14. plug if two washers are placed under the gland nut. We are at a loss to understand this because the effect of the extra washer would be to slightly recess the spark gap. As requested we are sending you under separate cover one dozen of these gland nut washers for further tests. Confirming our telephonic conversation with Mr. West this morning, you will have now received the modified RL.14. plug which we have designated X523. This plug has increased gas clearances over the RL.14. and it has been specially designed for your new 30 h.p. engine. We should be glad if you would test this plug and let us know if it gives you satisfactory slow running. Would you also please let us know if the X523. is satisfactory for your new 30 h.p. engine as regards length of reach and length of barrel. Yours faithfully, LODGE PLUGS LIMITED.
