Advantages and methods for polishing brushes for commutators.

One other matter which I noticed was that they make a point of polishing some of their brushes. This again I pointed out would be a distinct advantage as it would [strikethrough]maxxxiising[/strikethrough] tend to ensure a maximum pressure of the brush on the commutator, and would also reduce the tendency for the brush to stick.

In this connection we have supplied Mr. Lawrence of the Le Carbone Company with a dozen brushes which he will polish in two ways:-

a {Mr Adams} /- On the sliding surface representing the trailing edge of the brush and on the inclined surface on the top of the brush on which the spring rests.

b/- Polish all over.

The finish of the brush so polished is far more in keeping with R.R. traditions than what we are doing at the moment.
