Since that time the systematic set of comparative tests referred to has been completed (with one exception of little moment) and a number of additional comparisons have been made. The results form the subject of the present report.

In regard to the conclusion previously arrived at that differences lay in the differences of material of the tungsten contact points, this has not been upheld, and in fact the comparative analysis made by Messrs. Johnson Matthey between tungsten points taken from the Delco-Remy and tungsten as supplied to us by Messrs. Reynolds, has shewn there to be no observable difference between the materials, both being pure tungsten. A result of submitting the matter to Messrs. Reynolds (our English suppliers of tungsten points) was that they suggested a trial should be made of their own points fitted to the Delco Remy contact breaker. This fitting we got them to do, and it gave the good result detailed in test No.12. Messrs. Reynolds in the same letter, stated that their tungsten is 99.9% pure, and also that they had not had a previous complaint of this material in use with other people. Nevertheless we have not yet even now been able to get a really satisfactory result, such as we get on the Delco-Remy contact breaker, with any tungsten points fitted to our own contact breaker. We can get moderately good results only but we have not yet been able to get the same characteristic
