To RHC.{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer} Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}10/KW.3.1.36. B-56-BN.{W.O. Bentley / Mr Barrington} This car ran a preliminary test with a big bore engine. Will you please carry out the following inspection of it :- (1) Axle. (2) Propellor Shaft. (3) Gearbox. We want to know whether there is any sign that this will not stand up to the increased torque of the big bore engine. Will you please make a routine inspection of the shock absorbers and steering connections, so that we can be certain that this car is in fit condition to continue running. Also examine the brakes and re-line if necessary. ENGINE UNIT. The only parts left in the engine unit which have done the full run and in which we are interested are the cylinder head, crankcase, crankshaft, clutch and slipper wheel. Will you please inspect these. We should like the crankcase to be chalk tested. Unless something comes to light during the inspection which we ought to see, we should like the car re-building immediately after the inspection. The only new parts required in the engine unit are - (1) New Borg & Beck clutch to be supplied by Ll.Smith. We wish to keep the existing clutch for reference. | ||
