LIGHTENED TYPE P.100 HEADLAMPS FOR BENTLEY CHASSIS. Replying to your Cx.{Major Len W. Cox - Advertising Manager}11/KW.11.9.34., we have no further news of these lamps and Messrs.Lucas say that they do not anticipate having anything ready before Olympia. Presumably they are anxious to make this lamp a Show feature. From what I gathered from them on the occasion of my recent visit to Messrs.Lucas there will be little reduction in weight in this new lamp and I am afraid we shall be disappointed. We do not feel that much reduction in weight can be achieved with the existing design and we are experimenting ourselves with a view to cutting out the dipping reflector and magnetic dipper unit and using double filament lamp bulbs of a particular kind. This results in a satisfactory reduction in weight and if successful on road tests at a later date should be a much better proposition than anything else we have had.
