do everything possible to overcome the difficulty and render the application of our design of Fuse Holder practicable.

Lucas' still maintain that the troubles we have experienced are due to the employment of lead tin alloy fuse wire, instead of tinned copper.

X4338 Electrical Equipment of "Goshawk 11".

Lucas' have been given sufficient information to enable them to proceed with the design of dynamo and starter motor for this equipment and are now engaged on same.

I gave them plainly to understand that they are in competition with three other firms and that their proposals and productions would be subjected to the same searching tests as the contributions of the other three firms, and the decision would depend entirely on the merits of the proposals and productions submitted. Above all, I emphasized the necessity of concentration on the preparation of a scheme, in view of the limited time we can give them to get it out.

Lucas' declared their intention of keeping closely in touch with us regarding this equipment. They will visit us at least once a week to discuss matters.

Mr.Breeden, a Director of the Lucas Electrical Co.Ltd. gave expression to the opinion that an interview with R. {Sir Henry Royce} would be very helpful. They appear desirous of communicating their ideas direct to R. {Sir Henry Royce} rather than through the medium of our staff here and I think that if this could be arranged, a great deal of good might result.
