Supercharging Bentley. ---------- We wish to fit a Powerplus Blower (similar to the one used on Peregrine) to Bentley Chassis. For this we shall want several parts making as follows :- (1) Drive. This should be made to drive the Blower from the front end of the crankshaft. The drive should not be fitted to the Starting Handle Dog, as this will mean having to drive the Blower through the spring drive. If possible the Starting Dog should be bored out and the Blower driven by a serrated adaptor in the place of the oil retainer in the end of the crankshaft. (2) Intermediate Pipe. The Intermediate Pipe should be made to clear everything on the chassis and should fit the square section Induction Pipe with which we will supply you. The Intermediate Pipe should be jacketed so that we may water cool it if found necessary on the Test Bed. This pipe should have blow-off valves at each sharp bend, and there should be at least two valves. There are two valves on the pipe made for Peregrine and these can be used if required. (3) Oil Supply. When used on the chassis an oil supply will be necessary for the Blower bearings, for this a tank may be fitted under the Bonnet. (4) Carburetter. We will supply you with suitable carburetter. This should have some kind of air cleaner. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/R.Matthews. | ||
