X.34616 The rear shock absorbers on the O.S. started to squeak and grunt again so we set about piecemeal to find out the real cause - firstly we dismantled the link and worked the shock absorber by hand; the grunt still being there. Then we took the felt washer out from between the lever and shock absorber case but with no better results. Upon working the lever by hand we came to the conclusion that it was the first movement which was giving us the trouble so we dismantled all the plates carefully, examining each one carefully and found that the first movement plate was quite dry although lightly polished, which gave an appearance of being greased - this plate also was discoloured on its outer edge showing that it had been hot. We greased the plate and fibre washers, rebuilt up the shock absorber and found it quite O.K. We have left the N.S. for further developements. GWH.{George W.
