OC 719 Mr.Wormald, MAR.1.15. Re Brakes lined with "Ferodo" etc. ------------------------- Mrs Carter's car No.1513 which we have in for repairs etc, has the foot brake lined with "Raybestos", put on by the driver & has given absolute satisfaction for 16 months. He very seldom adjusts the brake, & oil does not affect the braking qualities. Brake drum is smooth & in perfect condition, & the entire job appears to have been a success. Several drivers have, at different times asked me to fit these brake linings to their cars, & in every case I have refused. Do you consider it OK to do as they wish. I feel certain we should never receive complaints about noisy & quick wearing brakes if we did this. Several rear foot brakes have been so fitted by the drivers & they are standing up well. Brakes are used very frequently & for short periods only as a rule here, & even if the material should be liable to wear out with continuous hard use, it is good for City work. Will you please let me have your opinion on this matter. E.W.Caswell.
