x 3684 Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} from By.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} c. to EFC. By4/P29.6.20. X.3888. CHASSIS - PETROL TANK. X.3687. Rolls-Royce America, are very urgent in regard to the adoption of the special type of tank which Mr. Royce is getting out to meet American conditions. The tank in question requires:- (a) A separate compartment to take the place of the spare tin. (b) A gauge to register quantity of petrol in the tank. (c) Side Filler. All the above features are apparently very desirable for cars of our own manufacture and I therefore suggest that we should make a special effort to push forward the experimental work on the tanks referred to. I am not altering my attitude in regard to America, but where we could see distinct advantages, in many cases such as the present, even before the America proposition was put forward, I think we should try to push forward the experimental work. It would, in actual practice, also strengthen our hands in regard to keeping America requirements well in hand. By.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} | ||
