S/W. (Private) 81-82 Lp{Mr Lappin}2/LAM.20.4.33. To Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} from Lp.{Mr Lappin} With reference to the first failure of Exp.III due to detonation, I have now heard concerning the fuel, a sample of which I have had tested. Under the conditions of A.M./D.T.D.134 Test, i.e., an S.30 engine at 100° C. and 900 R.P.M., this fuel does not meet the Air Ministry specification, having an octane number of 74. If you should wish to take it up with the suppliers, it is important not to mention the medium through which we had this fuel tested. Lp.{Mr Lappin} | ||
