To EFC. from R.{Sir Henry Royce} Copy to CJ. x 295 R3/G31.5.20. X.4060. X.295. RE LUCAS C.575 DYNAMO. X.3763. X.2778. X.3770. I am in receipt of your memo EFC1/T29.5.20, on Lucas C.575 Dynamo, for which I thank you. Like you, I am very undecided as to whether this dynamo is worth changing for the present standard. I would rather change to the Smith dynamo when a change is to be made, unless the Lucas can give you what is required. At the same time it is very desirable that the machine shall be thoroughly reliable, especially with regard to connections, and in connection with 1.EX which failed in the dynamo we regret to say that the cut-out now works very erratically, and also the Klaxon and battery ignition seem to have failed through some disconnection in the wiring system; about this I will report later. In conclusion, if these failures are as in the case of the dynamo and cut-out, part of the Lucas equipment, we shall do well to fit something more reliable as quickly as ever possible.
