re:- BENTLEY for Lp.{Mr Lappin}

With reference to Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rml/KW.24.5.34., re the above.

Our new batch of Standardised Bentley Saloons have been built so that advantage can be taken of the moved back battery crossmember as soon as such chassis come through. Therefore, if you give Lp{Mr Lappin} such a chassis, we can take advantage of it.

We note that you will provide the chassis with an outside filler to the petrol tank and a side spare wheel carrier.

It has occurred to us also that you will have to fit a new bonnet of the standard length and rear slope. The present bonnet is not correct. [Handwritten tick mark]

If you fit governor controlled shock dampers it will affect the position of the brake lever. We can deal with that easily.

Will the chassis have the dropped front crossmember and modified lamp standards? [Handwritten] yes

The exhaust pipe at the rear will have to be of the new standard length, if it has not been changed already.

The framed patch containing the speedometer and tachometer was a mock-up one on this car and it will need to be changed if that has not been done already.

Lp{Mr Lappin} will no doubt discuss some of these matters with you today, and I shall be in Derby on Tuesday.

If you can give us a list of things which are different from the present production chassis and which affect the coachwork, we could get to work on the body.
