Battery ignition contact lever pivot

We have had a case to-day on 17S4 of the contact breaker lever seizing on its pivot.

Although the instruction book states that this pivot should be greased periodically, owing to the fact that it means removing the lever to do this the lubrication is apt to be neglected and we have had several cases in the past of levers seizing on their pivots.

We would suggest for experiment a self lubricating pivot as shewn below.

It would only be necessary to put a drop of oil occasionally on the top of the pivot to maintain lubrication of the pivot bearing.

[Diagram annotation top] Pivot drilled hollow and filled with oil soaked felt.
[Diagram annotation bottom] Hole to allow oil to percolate.
