-8- master Chevrolet use the engine mounts in this way). the action of the rocking engine serves apparently as a harmonic balancer which stops the rocking motion of the car which is on, or the sum of, the elements of the low speed wobble. Mere wheel fight on the road is encountered which is not exactly low speed wobble but is allied with wobble; the frequency of engine mount will still be found to have a very great effect on wheel fight. (c). The factors tending to cure wheel fight are:- (a). Stiffening steering mechanism, steering gear, or steering gear mount. (However where a shimmy tendency is the dominant cause the reverse may give improvement, as noted above). (b). Increased shock absorber action. (c). Front stabiliser, or increased front spring rate. (d). Increased torsional stiffness of body frame assembly - particularly true of the shimmy tendency in cornering. (e). Avoiding lost motion in steering gear, steering linkage, or kingpins.
