2540 STEADMAN horet HP/STD PY. c. Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} Roy.{Sir Henry Royce} Sft.{Mr Swift} E.1/HP.5.6.36. re Cost of Radiator Filler Cap. The Order Office have pointed out to us that the staybrite radiator filler cap on the 25/30 HP. chassis is very much more expensive than the Bentley filler cap, which is made of Dixtampo, chromium plated. The comparative figures are as follows:- Material. Labour. Approx. Total. Charges. 25/30. 2s 9d 2s 3s 10d 8s 7d. Bentley. 10d 1s 3d 2s 5d 4s 6d. We cannot see any objection to going over to a chromium plated dixtampo cap on both the 25/30 HP. and P.III chassis, and we recommend that the material is changed straight away unless there is some serious objection which we have not foreseen. The colour of the chrome plated parts does not now differ materially from staybrite so that we cannot see any objection from the point of view of matching up the cap to the radiator shell. The saving to be obtained would appear to be in the region of 4/- per chassis. E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} | ||
