X264a HOTEL DE FRANCE. CHATEAUROUX. Indre. France. 12th May 1936. GWH{George W. Hancock - Head Chateauroux}/4/JAB. From G.W.H. c to.Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} BENTLEY. Outside Petrol Filler. I have been waiting for the men to get as many particulars of pumps used before reporting upon the difficulty of filling. We have just completed a tour to the south of France, and have come across two more pumps that the nozzle will not fit the filler without spilling. I) Bentley Agents Garage - Lyons and at Bedoin. Pump GEX Laster. Paris. Type K.{Mr Kilner} Model R 11. This nozzle is short as per sketch and is more or less fairly standard in the South of France. 2) Tours & Châteauroux and round about North. Guilbert & Barker Mfg.Co. Springfield. Mass. U.S.A. Pump Type GB 3500 B 8900 Re. the brass bellows connecting the mouth of the filler to the tank. We have as requested in F/EV.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork}3/MW.9.3.36 frequently examined the brass bellows. We have not discovered any sign of the bellows cracking and during filling the tank up, there has not been any sign of petrol leak. We have filled the bellows right up with petrol and there is no sign of leak. We presume that EV{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} is aware that there is a large rubber sleeve which joins the bellows unit to the tank which in our opinion, allows for any movement between the body work and the frame. As a matter of fact, we fail to see what useful purpose the bellows does. ----------------- G.W.H. | ||
