X300 To E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} from Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Les.{Ivan A. Leslie} Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Les.7/KW.1.2.35. SpectreCodename for Phantom III Bumper Chassis. We have run this chassis for 12 hours. Considerable time has been spent overcoming teething troubles from erection. There have been three cases where the chassis needed to be stopped and parts dismantled, as certain bearings of the front suspension were getting very hot, the cause being either lack of lubrication or bearing clearance. The general running of this chassis is very smooth owing to the soft suspension. If the steering wheel is not fixed, steering road shocks are quite bad. When 100 hours has been completed, we shall increase the shock damper loads in order to increase the tendency for failures. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/I.A.Leslie. | ||
