Herewith please receive copies of my assistant's reports :-

P.C.19 of 31.1.24.
P.C.20 20.2.24.
P.C.21 22.2.24.
P.C.22 22.2.24.

These reports deal with various tests and observations on the running of the Goshawk distributor generally, and in particular on the question of tests of tungsten contact points, and the following additional remarks to those contained in the reports may be made.

Tungsten Points. These are referred to in P.C.19, 20 and 21. It is now considered demonstrated that tungsten points, if attended to in accordance with the Instruction Book, will give reasonably satisfactory service on the ignition. There is very little margin, however, in regard to the size of the points, and it appears that under standard conditions it would be necessary to have larger points if made of tungsten for reasons in connection with current density, etc. which are referred to in P.C.20.

Wear of Rubbing Blocks. This is referred to in P.C.19 and 20. It will be clear from these results that the wear of the rubbing block in circumstances where the recommendations in the Instruction Book are adhered to, is quite reasonable.

Rotor Blade. This is referred to in P.C.19 only. The burning away which has been experienced on this rotor blade will no doubt recently have been improved by the steps which we have taken to secure a purer quality of the metal.

Steel Condenser Spring. Referred to in P.C.19. We have already issued a report to the effect that no defects have been experienced with this spring.
