as the 'India' chassis plus F.W.B. is ready, say about the middle of April send that out for a 10,000 miles test. Then I think it possible that Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} might be able to give his O.K. by some time in June. In any case, I think it is well worth while making a desperate effort, owing to our position, to do so.

You will see from the foregoing that I am in favour of attempting a complete chassis fitted with F.W.B. rather than two upsets, providing that it can be made to fit in with Sales' difficulties.

In any case the policy I suggest above would not interfere with altering our views and issuing the 'India' chassis without F.W.B. providing we find difficulties with F.W.B., because from your memo we shall not announce any new chassis until you have got further with sales and deliveries of current type, which might be some time in May or even June, and we should know a lot about F.W.B. by that time, and the policy could be more definitely decided then.

The above policy would not in any way stop making 'India' chassis, testing them and fitting F.W.B. when ready, just as we are now converting 40/50HP with F.W.B. Indeed it would be possible to deliver 'India' chassis to coachbuilders, but not to customers, to allow coachbuilders to get on with the body making, and we could fit F.W.B. to these chassis either at the coachbuilders, or at our Works.

The cost of fitting F.W.B. to 'India' chassis at the Works would be approximately £30.

The cost of fitting F.W.B. at coachbuilders, including transport etc. i.e. a complete cost, would be approximately £40, but much preferable for chassis to come to Works to be fitted with F.W.B.
