RR 238 (150 BKS.) (SH57.29-6-20.) MP 224358 ROLLS-ROYCE LTD. INSTRUCTIONS. To E F C Order No. PC 142 Customer's No. X 8673 July 12th 1927 Test of Morganite EG2 Narrow Brushes on M Machine A test of a set of narrow brushes of the above grade has now been completed; the test being carried out on the lines indicated in PC 109/30-8-26, which refered to similar test on standard grade brushes. These brushes are the proposed alternative standard for the NB machine. During the test some slight brush chattering and shrieking developed, but this was not considered serious. Some sparking was observed at the positive and negative brushes, but chiefly at the negatives and at high speeds. The control brushes appeared to be quite OK in this respect. The amount of brush dust deposited in the end cover, and on and around the holders was small. The commutator segments were dark brown and polished over the greater part but blackened along the trailing edges.
