SPRINGS.

Don't you think it would be distinctly advantageous for us to try a set of Firths' springs fitted up with "Alf's Button"?

I do not know if "Alf's Button" is the technical term for the subject, but it is certainly explanatory.

Woodhead makes the most extraordinary claims for this scheme. I therefore think it would be a sound policy to order a set of springs fitted up with this "cure-all".

Whilst writing in this connection, I would like to remark that we get a number of 20 HP. cars particularly, which are being handled by Br.{T. E. Bellringer - Repair Manager} for squeaks, and in which he is curing the squeak by filing the springs, owing to the fact that in the first place the spring plates are cutting into one another, and the result of the cutting in is that squeaks are set up. As to whether Br.{T. E. Bellringer - Repair Manager} is filing bevels on the edges of the spring ends or not I am not quite clear.

Here again I think it would be worth while for us to send a set of springs to Br.{T. E. Bellringer - Repair Manager} or at least a pair of front springs, for the 20 HP. chassis, and have them filed at his discretion, and then put on a car and run, to see whether there is any advantages or not to be gained by doing what Br.{T. E. Bellringer - Repair Manager} is undoubtedly carrying out on customers' cars.

Perhaps the best suggestion in this connection is to take a front and rear spring returned by Mr.Pidgeon, and let Br.{T. E. Bellringer - Repair Manager} operate on them, and then fit one front and one rear in the condition returned by Mr.Pidgeon, the other front and rear in the condition they would be put into by Br.{T. E. Bellringer - Repair Manager} filing, the four springs of course being fitted to one car.
