RIDING ON WHITMORE'S (Trade Mark Reg. U. S. Pat. Office) Protects the Springs of Automobiles Stops Rust—Corrosion—Squeaks—Rattles THE Whitmore Manufacturing Company have developed a special lubricant or protective composition for use in connection with automobile springs. The fact that most squeaks and rattles come from dry, rusted, or corroded springs is generally appreciated by the motoring public, and especially by the Service Departments where these troubles have to be eliminated. Various kinds of lubricants have been developed; usually with the idea of merely thinning out the rust or corrosion and supplying a light lubricant temporarily. Such oils or greases are not permanent, because they will not resist moisture nor are they of sufficient tenacity and body to act as a lubricant between the leaves of the springs where the pressures are terrific. The object of Whitmore's Spring Composition is, first of all, to protect the spring against the entrance of dirt; to prevent the formation of rust or corrosion; to fill the concavities between the spring leaves with a composition that is waterproof and yet tenacious enough to remain where it is placed. It must not work out. Through the use of Whitmore's Spring Composition, the sliding action of ALL the leaves TOGETHER is accomplished and the spring is supple, though not unduly lively, due to the nature of the composition. In other words, Whitmore's Spring Composition acts as a protective as well as a shock-absorber. The actual steel-against-steel contact is largely eliminated, and the motorist is practically “riding on Whitmore's.” Used in connection with a suitable spring cover, it is obvious that a treatment of springs with Whitmore's Spring Compound will last for many thousands of miles without attention. It is therefore a big saver both to car owners and to Service Departments. We recommend the “Ideal Spring Cover” as particularly well suited to the use of Whitmore's Spring Composition. This cover is manufactured by the Ideal Manufacturing Co., Burlington, Vt., and is distributed by E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} V.{VIENNA} Rippingille, 51 Canfield Ave., E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} Detroit, Mich.
