Exptl. Dept. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rn.{Mr Robinson}11/KW. 13th April, 1934. Mr. Dawson, Chief Engineer, Delco-Remy Corporation, Muncie, Indiana, U.S.A. Dear Mr. Dawson, I hope that the Direction Indicators arrived safely, as I understand that they were sent off a few days before I got back. On going through the information you gave me, there are one or two points I should like to confirm, if you can find time to write :- (1) Do you dynamically balance your armatures ? (2) I have a figure of 120°C. as the maximum running temperature of your dynamo armatures. Is this a clerical error on my part, or do your machines actually get as hot as this ? If so, do you use special solder, and what wire insulation do you employ to withstand these conditions ? We find that the charring temperature of our cotton insulation is 105°C. (3) I would very much like a performance curve of the new La{L. A. Archer} Salle dynamo if it is available. Yours faithfully, FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LIMITED. | ||
