W/S - C. x7770 Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}9/KW.15.1.35. Chassis 36-PY. Major A.H. Wilkie. Replying to C2/C.12.1.35, the car belonging to Mr. Fairey which we did work on was 34-GN. This was as far back as 1931. We have not done anything to 20-PY, Fairey's latest car. 36-PY has all the latest Phantom engine improvements on it, including 5 1/4 to 1 compression ratio and high lift camshaft. There is really nothing further we can do, particularly in view of the fact that development work on the Phantom has now ceased. Referring to our various reports on the maximum speed of the present Phantom, you will see that 88 m.p.h. is a good maximum, better than we claim.
