X4342 V Wd. {Mr Wood / Mr Whitehead} from By. {R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} c. Hs. {Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} c. EFC. {E. Fowler Clarke - Electrical Engineer} BY3-P23.3.21. X.4341 X.4342. V STARTER MOTOR. X.543. Hs. {Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} informed me that during his visit last week end to Mr. Royce, the latter suggested that we should obtain C.A.V. starter motors suitable for :- (a) 40/50 Chassis. (b) Goshawk II. in order that we might test same out and judge their suitability for our requirements. In view of this therefore will you kindly see that the parts in question are ordered up against an experimental number and handed over to the Experimental department to be reported upon fully in the usual way. Mr. Royc's attitude towards the C.A.V. now is, that he considers they turn out the best work of this description in this country, and that they have had most experience, and therefore it is desirable in the interests of the Company to reconsider their product along the lines laid out above.
