Regarding the voltage for this battery ignition, we see no reason for the moment why the 12 volts should not be quite a suitable voltage using, of course, a suitable ballast resistance in series with the primary coil. We have made a preliminary trial of one of our coils using a Remy contact breaker, a 12 volt battery, and suitable resistances, and have found everything apparently quite O.K. We are now, however, almost ready to conduct a full test of the R.R. battery ignition and we shall be able to say something more definite about this, when we have had this running fora little time. The only difference we can see at the moment between the operation of the 12 volt and the 6 volt scheme would be in the action of the contacts, and this we shall carefully observe.

X.1300. The R.R. battery ignition will be fitted to 49-GB in due course.
