Bailey - Chief Engineer} [crossed out] P. 2. EPICYCLIC 3rd. SPEED GEARBOX. DA{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}4/W3.3.31. [Handwritten] x7310 V2200 After our experience in driving 14-EX. with the experimental Maybach dogs we think it will be necessary to modify to some extent the Maybach jaws on the epicyclic 3rd. speed box. The angle as instructed is 7° and 6° respectively on the vacuum and hand controlled dogs. Clicking seems certain to occur. We send herewith a print of N. sch. 3230. shewing the suggested modifications which we have sent to Derby, as the box is being built up rapidly.
